Planning from abroad
Destination wedding planner in Barcelona.
Almost every couple we work with plans their wedding from another country. You choose the wedding; we are the people on the ground in Catalonia who make it happen.
What planning from 6,000 km away actually involves
The hard part of a destination wedding is not choosing a venue. It is everything that follows: a contract in Spanish you are asked to sign, a florist who answers at midnight your time, a caterer who needs a decision this week, a town hall that wants a document you have never heard of. Most of it is ordinary work — but it is ordinary work in another language, in another time zone, with money attached.
That is the job we do. We are your office in Barcelona: we visit the venues, sit in the meetings, read the contracts, negotiate the rates and tell you what is normal here and what is not.
How we work with couples abroad
- In your time zone. Video calls in your evening, not ours. WhatsApp for the small questions, email for anything with a number in it.
- In English, start to finish. With you in English; with venues, vendors and the town hall in Spanish and Catalan. Nothing is lost in translation, and your guests are looked after in English on the day.
- Venue scouting without the flights. We visit, film and photograph venues for you, and tell you honestly which ones do not match what you have described.
- One trip, not five. When you do fly in, we build the visit around tastings, the venue walk-through and the meetings that genuinely need you in the room.
- Catering under the same roof. Menus, tastings, service staff and bar are our own team, not a supplier we hand you to.
Legal or symbolic: what most couples do
A civil wedding in Spain requires residency and a file that takes months. Most international couples therefore sign the legal paperwork at home, before or after the trip, and celebrate here with a symbolic ceremony — the one their guests fly in for.
It is simpler, it costs less, and it gives you complete freedom over the setting, the officiant and the words. We will talk through both routes on your first call and tell you which one fits your dates. We are planners, not lawyers: anything with legal weight we will point you to a Spanish notary or your consulate.
Where we plan
Barcelona and across Catalonia: the Costa Brava cliffs, the Penedès vineyards an hour from the city, the medieval stone of the Empordà and Girona, and the sea and light of Sitges. Barcelona–El Prat has direct flights from New York, Newark, Boston, Miami, Chicago, Atlanta, Los Angeles and most of the UK, which is why guests actually come.
What it costs
Planning starts at €1,200 for day-of coordination, €1,800 for partial planning and €3,500 for full planning. Décor collections pair with any package and are quoted on your concept. The rest of the budget depends on guest count, venue and season — and on your first call we will give you an honest estimate for the wedding you are describing, before you commit to anything. A full breakdown is in our guide to what a wedding in Barcelona costs.
We take a limited number of weddings each season, so dates in May, June, September and October go early.
